• Hi,

    I got one question about user management in WordPress. I’ve successfully installed WordPress and got it to work just as I want it to. I’m using the option to let users register on my blog and currently I’m assigning them the role as “Contributor”.

    This works great, but my question is: Is it possible, with a plug-in or some sort of third party add-on, to let users register and create/delete their own posts but NOT see other users posts/comments?

    Example: If I use the users “Test” which has the role as Contributor, I can log in and create posts and delete them as I wish. But the problem is that I can see all the other posts from the other users and the posts from the admin. I only want the specific user to see their own stuff.

    I just want to thank those who read through this in advance, and I hope for an answer to my question/problem.

  • You might want to have a look at some of the role management or scoper plugins. However, I’m not sure how many of them will have been tested on WP3.0 yet.

    Hi,

    It looks like you probably need to use one of the role manager type plugins, to control what particular user groups on your site can and can’t do.

    These plugins range from the fairly straightforward such as capability manager to the more complex such as Role Scoper.

    What suits you really depends on your exact requirements, but I’d probably give the more straightforward option a go first as Role scoper probably has a lot of additional functionality that you won’t need.

    Hope this helps, thanks, rob

    re: esmi

    I’ve run both capability manager and Role Scoper on 3.0 in the last few days and both seem fine so far

    @aproimage: Thanks for the info.

    Thank you so very much for the fast response, I’ll look into this and come back to you!

    Thanks!

    You may also wish to consider the members plugin. I have used the plugin on 3.1 and 3.0, and not thus far come across any bugs or problems.
