Hello, hoping someone can help. We have a WordPress+WooCommerce site that is working fairly well. One stumbling block is local shipping. We would like to offer our customers lettermail options as some of our products are small and thin. Assigned shipping zones, set smaller products to flat-rate and larger items to to non flat-rate. When one of the smaller items is added to the cart, the lettermail option shows, as well as the more expensive option. Problem is, when the larger item is also added to the cart, the lettermail option does not disappear. Trying to figure out how to prevent this from happening, turned off the lettermail option for now. This is only Canada, the US and rest of the world only has one shipping option. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi @hirezgraphics,

This issue might be due to the settings of your shipping classes.

If you haven’t already, you could try creating two separate shipping classes for your small and large items. Then, assign these classes to your products accordingly. When setting up your shipping methods, assign the lettermail option only to the shipping class for smaller items. This way, when a larger item is added to the cart, the lettermail option should not appear.

If you find this process a bit complex, you may try the WooCommerce Advanced Shipping Packages or Table Rate Shipping plugin. This plugin allows you to create different packages for different types of products and set separate shipping methods for each package. This could provide a more flexible solution to your shipping needs.

If you need further assistance or have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. We’re here to help!

Shameem, we did set up flat rate and non-flat rate and assign them to the product shipping options, but it did not turn off the lettermail option, thats why its baffling. I will check out the two links provided. Thank you for your reply!

    Hello @hirezgraphics,

If you have already assigned flat and non-flat rates to the product shipping options, you might have to check the conditions under which these rates are applied.

If the lettermail option is still not turning off, it could be because the conditions for applying the lettermail option are still being met even when a larger item is added to the cart.

You might need to set more specific conditions for when the lettermail option should be applied. For example, you could set the lettermail option to be applied only when the cart contains only small items.

Also, as suggested earlier, the WooCommerce Advanced Shipping Packages or Table Rate Shipping plugin could provide a more flexible solution to your shipping needs.

I hope this provides some clarity. Please let us know if you have any other questions!

Shameem, thanks. Very small business just starting out, so a monthly charge for something fairly straightforward is not in the cards. I’ll see if I can find another solution. Thanks for your guidance and direction!

    Hello @hirezgraphics,

where do i find the conditions you are referencing?

When I mentioned “conditions”, I was referring to the settings you can configure within your WooCommerce shipping options.

You can find these settings by going to your WordPress dashboard and then navigating to WooCommerce > Settings > Shipping. Here, you can configure your shipping zones, methods, and classes.

In your case, you might need to review the settings for your shipping classes and methods. Make sure that the conditions for the lettermail option are set up correctly so that it only applies to the smaller items.

Please remember that these conditions need to be specific enough to distinguish between your small and large items. If the conditions are too broad, the lettermail option might still appear even when larger items are added to the cart.

Here are some resources that might help you to understand the product shipping classes:

Very small business just starting out, so a monthly charge for something fairly straightforward is not in the cards.

You can purchase a monthly or yearly subscription. Also, all extensions sold on Woo.com have a 30-day refund policy. If the product doesn’t work the way you need it or you think another product would work better, we are more than happy to provide a full refund.

I hope this clarifies your concern! If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Shameem: I scoured the WordPress plug-ins page and found a free plug-in that does exactly what I needed, it hides a shipping method. It is based on a keyword, so assigning that keyword (which is the name of a certain shipping method) on the larger items an adding them to the cart hides the cheaper option. It’s a very simple and easy process and works perfectly. I appreciate your assistance and professionalism in trying to find a solution.
