Specific rest call not cached

I have made a new rest call that return some values that retrieve from another website, the data is not changing every hour so i would like to call it just once before serving the cached version to users , but while the plugin works great with wordpress posts, comments and custom post types it doesn’t cache my custom endpoint

so how can i make it cache values that i retrieve from an external api ?
