    Hi,

first of all thanks for this great plugin.

I have an issue with special characters (“-“, “‘”, etc). When I do “rename and retitle”, the name is changing correctly with these characters but titles just replace them with blank spaces.

    Could you please fix that?

    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Hi @saynom,
Phoenix Media Rename sanitize strings, so some special character is replaced by spaces.

I’ll check if is safe to remove sanitization from title, it this is possible I’ll release a new version in a few days.

    Great, thanks a lot!

While I’m here, do you think you could also add a “retitle” only option (like the “rename” one)?

    Hi @saynom,
I released version 1.3.4 a few moments ago: now the title is no more sanitized during bulk rename operations.

I have no plan to add a “retitle” only option because it would be ineffective for SEO, and Phoenix Media Rename is a tool intended to help SEO masters ??

Let me know if you find other issues.

    Hi @crossi72 ,

that’s very nice of you to keep me updated and to have worked on my request.
    I genuinely appreciate that.

I had no idea that a “retitle” only option would be ineffective for SEO. I’m really new to WP.

    Have a great day!

    Hi @saynom.
I’m sorry for my late reply, but I have been away for a few days for a conference.

The title is very effective for post, pages and custom posts, but the media elements are usually presented inside a Web page as part of the content, so their title is not used.

If you use the media attachment page the media title will be shown in the page, so it will be used for SEO, but it is more effective to remove this kind of page to avoid duplicate content.

    Hope this helps ??

    Hi,

Just discovering and testing your plugin and came across this post.
What do you mean exactly by:

“it is more effective to remove this kind of page to avoid duplicate content”

    in:

If you use the media attachment page the media title will be shown in the page, so it will be used for SEO, but it is more effective to remove this kind of page to avoid duplicate content.

Aside from SEO questions, is it safe to manually edit the media page title and permalink? Of course by also editing the page where this media is displaying.

As most of the time, this title is simply the filename so it doesn’t really make any sense to rename the file without changing the media’s title.

    Hi @dsl225,
you can safely change media page title and permalink because those data are not related to image attached to post or pages, those data are used only to display the page automatically generated by WordPress to show media element directly, even if they are not attached to a post or a page.

If you want more detailed information, feel free to contact me in private.

Yes, that’s what I also thought, many thanks!
