The Spearhead WordPress theme doesn’t seem to work properly with the parent theme (Seedlet) throwing up 28 errors in the AMP plugin running in Standard mode. Apart from this for some reason in mobile mode it doesn’t show posts that are posted in other formats/templates (quote instead of standard).

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi there,

I’m not sure I understand. I checked your site (using your most recent blog post) in Google’s AMP tester and it does not seem you have AMP enabled on your site.

This is the link I tested: https://jots.in/producing-clean-water-might-just-get-easier-in-the-future/

This is the “Not an AMP page” result I get when I test it: https://search.google.com/test/amp?id=BL0Jv7NTLSPFZ6qvY98vGw

Do you no longer have AMP activated on your site? What are the errors you were seeing, can you give us a list of the exact errors you are seeing, and where you are seeing these errors reported?

    Thanks for the additional info!

    Hi,
I had disabled the AMP plugin because of the errors. I have activated it now so you can check. Here’s a screenshot of the validation page:

The reason I assume it’s an issue with Spearhead is because the same errors don’t show up in the AMP plugin when I apply the default Twenty Twenty-One theme. I’m unfortunately not proficient enough to know if these errors have any actual impact on the website or not, just got the error notification so thought I’d reach out on the support forumn.

The issue with posts not being visible turned out to be a lack of support for formats apart from ‘standard’ so I just changed the format on posts I had marked as ‘quote’ and ‘image’ etc to standard.

    Hi there,

I tested both your homepage and a couple of other pages on Google’s official AMP tester and I couldn’t see any errors. They even previewed fine on Google’s search results.

You can perform the test yourself using this link:

    Hi,

So, I should ignore the errors shown in the amp plugin?

Here’s a screenshot of the validation page:
    https://pasteboard.co/JI9KV5e.png
    and error page:

    Regards,

    Thanks for your screenshots.

In this case none of the javascript noted in your screenshots would be expected to run on an AMP-formatted page, so what you are seeing the plugin sanitizing the page and removing unnecessary scripts to make it AMP-compliant.

So even though they are listed as “errors” it’s not indicating that the page cannot be viewed in AMP, not that kind of error. Instead it is noting that only that those specific scripts (and not the page text/images themselves) are incompatible.

You should check the AMP page just to be sure and if the content is OK, then yes mark them as reviewed (shown in this screenshot) since they have already been removed by the AMP plugin.

    Hope this helps!
