Sparkling Theme breaking website

I would like to use the sparkling theme 1.1.5 – it is installing ok but as soon as I activate it I am getting this error

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_PAAMAYIM_NEKUDOTAYIM in /home/activate/public_html/wp-content/themes/sparkling/inc/libraries/epsilon-framework/class-epsilon-framework.php on line 160

Also tried the Allegiant theme but got a similar result
