    Hi oliverbar,

Thank you for the offer ??

The simplest way to do that, I think, is to pick one of the existing .po files and to make a new one for Spanish:

    – In the folder “languages” there are some files with the extension .po or .mo.

    – Duplicate sf-auc-fr_FR.po for example and name the file sf-auc-es_ES.po.

    – Now you have to edit this file with a text editor (the simplest one will do the trick):
You will see some things like that:

    #: sf-auc-admin.inc.php:70
    msgid "Authors page base"
    msgstr "Préfixe des pages auteur"

The first line is just a comment, forget it.
The second line is the English text to translate, leave it as it is.
The third line is the translation (in French here) of the previous line: replace the text with the Spanish translation.

When you see this: %s %d %1$s, keep them in your translation, it’s a kind of marker to say “there will be some other text later here”. For example with “Leave empty for default value: %s”: %s will be replaced later with the default value of the field.

    – Save, it’s done.

    – In fact, WordPress uses the .mo files, it’s a compiled form of the .po files. If you want you can try to make it with poEdit. Otherwise, just post a link to download the .po file and I’ll do the .mo file (it’s just “open/save” if there’s no error in the file).

    Thank you.

    Hi!

I did as you suggested with poEdit, very easy :). Better than using notepad.

There are some strings I could not check in the backend. I don’t know where to find them.
Let me know if there is some issue.

Links for .mo and .po files:

    Best regards

    Thanks Oliver!

Some of the strings you couldn’t check are used for some alerts. For example the string “%s? Seriously?” is used if the user chose “tag”, “category” or “archives” for the author base, it will display “category? Seriously?” :p

Thanks again, I’ll push an update very soon.
