Spammy, Looks and Work Weird – Avoid
-
TL/DR: Appeared left-justified with no option to fix, required two clicks for any action
Like many people here, I just need a couple of reliable social share buttons that I would not have to maintain manually.
Installed the plugin, started to choose my icons, and the spam began: do you want to pay us? No. Do you want to add a link to our product? Seriously, I have not even seen how it works! Then, leave us a 5-star review! Well, we’ll see about that, shall we?
Chose the buttons, what they were supposed to do, how they looked, and set them to appear at the bottom of the blog pages.
Totally different buttons appeared at the bottom of my posts. 100% left-justified. Very unprofessional, just stuck there in the corner. With Pinterest (I kid you not – PINTEREST!) being one of them. The best/worst: the Facebook Like thumbs up was not aligned with any of the buttons and kind of floating in that general area. [facepalm]
Back to the settings, turns out there are TWO places to choose your buttons. How’s that for bad UX? Let’s try the shortcode. Inserted the shortcode at the bottom of the post. Correct buttons showed up! Oof. 100% left-justified, just sitting there, in no man’s land.
Ok, let’s try them. Here is the most important part – when you click on the button, it does not do the action you assigned it to do. No, seriously. It gives a tiny popup menu with that only action for you to chose, and then you have to click on that action to have it performed. I myself was really confused about what I needed to do. Bad UX, unprofessional.
I tried out the LinkedIn share, and it opened a fill page that looked odd and confusing, since LinkedIn shares are usually small windows. That did it for me, deleted.
And this concludes my 5 star review.
P.S. Upped to 2 stars for being responsive. It’s time consuming and expensive to provide support, so props to them.
