SPAMmers are killing me! Help!

  • The past few days I’ve been killed by SPAMmers. I’ve had a blog for a few years now and until now Askimet is doing its job and catching the majority of the SPAM that comes through. But now it’s getting crazy. And the SPAM comments seem like something Askimet would definitely catch.

    I went ahead and downloaded the latest version of Askimet and while it’s catching SPAM in general, these random comments still find their way through.

    Any thoughts and ideas I could try out?

    Also, the SPAMMERS seem to comment on individual pictures on my site. I can disallow comments on the post itself, but I can’t seem to find a way disallow comments from pictures within a post. Any suggestions?(ex: https://www.givememyremote.com/remote/?attachment_id=516)

  • Most likely those aren’t comments but trackbacks. Askimet doesn’t handle trackbacks. You’ll probably need to either disable trackbacks or use some sort of trackback validator.
