I’ve got 6 users, their email address are from the same domain name- fanforums.net, and their profile fields are filled with meaningless letters. I guess they are spammers.

The problem is– they’ve done nothing since they registered. I’d feel rude if I delete them without really identify them as spammer.

Why I get silent spammer? What they can damage on my blog when they act? What’s the best plugin for blocking spammer from registering?

    Regards

If you can track down a constant in their registration data (in this case, fanforums.net), try this plugin:

Thanks! But, I’m curious– what can they do by sitting there silently?

Nothing really. There are a few spam bot programs out there written to take advantage of multisite, but like any poorly written programs, some fail miserably.

    You’re welcome!

Often they wait. If you don;t delete them for a few days, *then* they come back and fill your site with crap.

Or some just fill out the blogroll. Lame, I know.

    OMG, seems they start attacking…
I got message “Thanks for upgrading…please update your network” on Dashboard, but there wasn’t any update availabel and I didn’t update anything. If I follow the message to update network, it can’t completed due to one of the spammers’ blog’s url doesn’t exits.
Now I deleted the spammers and the spam blog that one of them created. My Dashboard come back normal. This thingy wierld.

Ban Hammer doesn’t work on MultiSite, as of the last time I tested it. However, Multisite has a built in way to block people by email domain in the super admin settings area.

If you guys are finding it’s working on MultiSite though, wow, and yay, but I wrote it and I never got it working right (that may be BuddyPress though… Huh…)
