I have all the sudden tons of spambots subscribing my newsletter. My provider forced me to take the subscription form offline to prevent server load.
The Plugin is up to date. The standard Anti spam mechanism is active.
Is there any other possibility to stop spambots from subscribing?

The latest version is 5.3.0. Use the blacklist to block mail.ru. Shortly a release with other checks.

This forum is manage by www.remarpro.com, we cannot change it.

The new Version (5.30) works fine as the spam is stopped for now. ( Address black list & captcha active)
Maybe in future version it would be better to have recaptcha because other captchas reportedly fail more often right now, and also it’s translatable to other languages.

    Cui bono?
Why would somebody try to hack and/or flood a newsletter registration form? To
receive more of the same newsletters?

The insert as subscribe name a web address. They are trying to:

    1. send that address to the subscriber email address when the subscribe name is reported in the activation or welcome email

    2. publish a link in the targeted site not knowing that is not a subscription form but something like a comment post form
