Spam via Jetpack Contact Form

  • I have started getting a lot of spam emails through my Jetpack contact form (28 in the last 24 hrs).

    Akismet is installed and is catching spam comments.

    Has anyone found a way to stop this or do I need to abandon Jetpack contact form for one that allows me to use a Captcha?

    Secondary question – curiosity only: I am mystified at what the originators of the spam expect to achieve.

  • I have exactly the same problem. I’m getting slammed by spam from China. It looks like Akismet is filtering most of the inquiries but not all of them. Did you manage to fix it? I was thinking about blocking the whole country through my htaccess file but I don’t know how to do that yet.
