Alas, no longer works

  • UPDATED Jan 2017: I originally gave this 5 stars and donated to the developer. Unfortunately, the plugin no longer works after the most recent update to WP. My site is once again being inundated with spam. If he updates the plugin and it works again, will once again revise my review.
    UPDATED March 2017: It appears the developer has completely abandoned this plugin. It should be removed from WordPress.

    Was having a huge problem with spam registrations. Tried another plugin and it did not work. Installed this one and so far in two days only one (I’m guessing human) spammer has registered, whereas I used to get about a dozen every day. There have also been no spam comments, which also used to number about a dozen or more every day.

    According to the developer, the plugin is continually updated by Google. I had found a website that offers instructions for installing reCAPTCHA without a plugin; it just made my head hurt, so thanks for this easier way. Will happily donate.

    Hello, thanks for trying BWP recaptcha.

    This plugin depends on Google reCAPTCHA for spam filtering, so the continual revision is done by Google entirely. What the plugin mainly does is integrate Google reCAPTCHA with WordPress (and other plugins such as Contact Form 7).

    You will still get spam occasionally due to the fact that there are real human spammers out there, and no spam protection mechanism can stop them entirely.
