• Hi there,

I have switched to BuddyPress for user registration. This is while that I had “Ticked” the “anyone can register” option in the (settings –> general) from already. I am not sure if this was the spam source, however, I can say that there are spam registrations to the site. Having an online chat with one of the WordPress techies, they said that I need to “Remove the Tick” from the “anyone can register” option. But they were not sure if this could potentially cause any problem into BuddyPress, specially in the registration process of BP. Does anyone know if removing the “anyone can register” option may cause a problem in BP?

    Thanks so much

I believe if you remove that tick, no one will be able to register. But why don’t you test it yourself? Fake email, and done ??

Thanks Daniel. That′s because I am not aware of other possible side effects that this may cause. WP has got a nasty behaviour sometimes that you really cannot predict what might be the results of your action. This may happen because of lacking a management system to rate the plugins and the effects they may cause. But the idea of fake mail sounds reasonable. thanks for that

My plugin lh zero spam (in the repository), supports buddypress
