• I’m having a lot of issues with spam, but who isn’t?

I came over from MT where I had blacklist running, which provided a very good line of defense, everything was either deleted or moderated that was spam.

I can’t say the same for WP, I’ve tried blacklist for one night, spamminator, cashhash, karma, combos, one at a time.

Each time I would wake up to a few dozen spam posted NOT moderated, nothing.

I removed all those plugins and tried Optional Comment Moderation plugin, had it moderate anything older then 30 days.

Tested it myself, sure enough I was moderated, wake up this morning 20 some spams on old entries, tried to post myself, I got moderated.

As you can see I’m not very pleased right now, I would very much appreciate it if someone could aid me as I feel I’ve exhausted my options.

I would love to have blacklist function as it does on MT, I would settle for that. I know that rewriting and personalizing the comment engine is the best solution however I’ve already spent a couple of weeks working and moving from MT and finally have settled in.

With 7-6 schedule plus work and HW from 5 classes I’m sure you can see how this is mounting to be a very frustrating situation.

This is the ONLY issue with WP I love everything else.

    Regards,

    Dmitri Von Klein

  • What version of WordPress are you using? Some of the plugins are specific to a WordPress version. Spaminator has some extra bits of goodies for V1.5 that aren’t there for 1.2.2 (because of 1.2.2’s code) so ensure that you are using the most up-to-date plugins appropriate for your WP install.

I use Spaminator and SpamWords and have found that to be very effective for me. Others use SpamKarma and are very pleased with that as well. Have you done anything unique to your own code that perhaps has created a situation where these plugins are less effective?

It is 1.2.2, since I have just moved to WP I did get the latest versions, and I have not done anything to the code, not to my knowledge at least.

I mean, logically if I have, wouldn’t I catch it when I commented myself, and that’s what is most puzzling to me is that I would get moderated during testing and well poker casino slides right through.
