• tonight they made it through the barricades.

all of my 1.5 installs plumped up with some heavy spam action.

the “h*ldem” was in the username, the link was in the user site, and the contents of the comments were random, and at times referring to loans.

so i’ve added loan and loans to my common spam words list.

But my question is: Does the built in protection in 1.5 look at the name of the commenter?

Also: if my settings say that all comments go into moderation until you have an approved comment, how do they get through?

none of the potted meat made it into moderation. all 176 of them made it into the blogs directly.

if the spam protection doesn’t look at the name and the link provided, how hard would it be to ask WP/Spammintator/whatever to look there?

  • i was under the impression that it checked the name/e-mail/link/comment section. could be wrong though. I know wp-blacklist checks in those locations which you can select in the options.
