As soon as I went live with this form, I started getting spam contact messages from one particularannoying spammer with a dire warning that my domain was about to expire, and I needed to send a payment immediately to somewhere in Africa.

The ibericode description for the plugin says that it has built-in spam protection, but there are no further details. I may have to resort to an annoying CAPTCHA. Are there any other easy options for a novice WordPress poke-and-hoper?

  • I recommend installing the wpbruiser plugin. Once you’ve activated that plugin you got WPbruiser > ContactForms and check the box for HTMLforms.

Hope that helps. If you have any questions, please let me know!

Hi, I setup wpbruiser but no matter what I do, I get this message:

“Your submission seems to be a spam!”

Do you get this message from WpBruiser, or do you still see this message when you deactivate the WpBruiser plugin?

    Thanks for letting me know.

Hi, I only receive that message when I have checked the box next to “HTML Forms” under the wpbrusier Contact Forms tab.

However, I’ve done some more testing. I use Sage HTML Forms as a side package with the HTML Forms plugin.

Turns out wpbruiser won’t work if I’m using Sage HTML Forms.

That is good to know! Thanks for sharing.
