• I have an auth image plugin and require visitors to input their e-mail address to comment and yet I’m getting flooded with spam (regular, not just trackback) with no e-mails listed.

With 1.2 these measures worked to stop spam. Why isn’t it working now? How are they getting through?

  • Doh!

    Sowwy.

    Anyway, what macmanx wrote.

FWIW ? Installing the plug-in enabled me to ‘customize’ the greeting to my notorius hijacking friend at Online Poker.

    go to F a t h e r L u k e (d o t ) c o m – enter a comment with the words:
    Texas Holdem
    or
    Online Poker

    Just for fun, I mean.

    Okay,
    Father Luke

One of the big problems is that the psam guys use a trackback instead of a comment.
If you disable trackbacks, no more problem….

I wouldn’t bother editing “spam words found” to something hostile or profame. Real spammers don’t have delicate feelings and will just laugh off any profanity. Honest visitors who accidentally type something the spam list caught will be offended.
