• Hello,

I got a message from my webhost saying spam is being sent from my WordPress general Email Address. Which came as a surprise because I’m very cautious about what I’m implementing in terms of plugins. Looking in my logs, it’s true that something is sending spam emails to itself.

I’m using iThemes security as my security suite and I don’t allow user registrations. I’ve tweaked the security settings for the savvest possible environment to work with and I scan my website on a regular basis with Sucuri SiteCheck, which came out clean.

Most noticeable is that when it happens, I appear to have been logged out automatically. There are no strange accounts and I’ve tried to change my password.

I’m very worried about the security of my website, please help me find a way to identify and remove the problem.

    Thank you.

  • Are you using any nulled or cracked themes/plugins?

    Hello everythingred,

No, I use a free theme form the wordpress repository and I only buy plugins if needed. Again, I’m very cautious about what I’m implementing in terms of plugins.

I suspect the spam reads out the recipient address and sends spam through our contact form.
