• Heyho.

We use honeypot on a couple of sites. So far the feedback of clients was positive, but we have some cases where we can’t stop the spam messages. So today I tried to take a closer look at it and some things don’t make sense.

According to Flamingo, one of the honeypot fields is filled with input. But the spam is still send and also not logged in Flamingo under the spam tag.

From day to day more clients call about receiving spam.

The thing is, most of these sites have multiple forms available and in all of these cases, it’s only one of the forms that is sending the spam.

I tried to find some connection between these forms (plugins, etc), but it seems that there really isn’t one and it’s hard to track down where the problem lies.

I’ll dig into this in the next couple days. I’m not sure if it’s the same behaviour, but I did just notice a strange behaviour on one of my test sites. Perhaps something was changed in a recent update. I will update this thread (and the plugin) once I know more.

Hi @pixelprod – very sorry to take so long to get back to you about this. I got hit by a million other things and Honeypot had to get back-burnered for a while.

Are you still experiencing this issue? I reviewed things on my test servers and the plugin appears to be working as expected. And you’re certain the form that is sending the spam has a honeypot field setup?
