Spam issues
-
I was excited by this plugin’s sleek user interface, but it’s only skin deep. I switched from Gravity Forms to this and was immediately inundated with spam entires. Even after activating various versions of CAPTCHA. I never had these issues with Gravity Forms and I will be switching back.
I talked to WP Forms about this a year ago and they haven’t made any changes. I’m getting daily messages written in Russian and all sorts of other languages that get through captcha, and WPForms have done nothing to help with this.
Really, how hard would it be to implement their own spam catcher that allows you to blacklist certain words? Or even letters of specific alphabets? That would allow me to filter out most of the spam that gets through.
FYI, I used this on three sites. One is pretty large, one is medium-sized and one is tiny. Literally less than 100 visitors a week and that one still gets spammed like crazy. So it’s not simply the case that people are targeting my largest site.
It seems that spammers are scraping site code looking for this plugin, and they know how to beat it.
So yeah, I coughed up for a Gravity Forms license again and I’m going back to the good old days of having no spam issues, even when I just use their simple honyepot detection method. I don’t even need to use CAPTCHA on their forms!!
Oh and this doesn’t even touch on the VAST array of issues I experienced trying to use the Stripe payment add-on. I got about 30 emails deep in the thread with their support and then just gave up. They couldn’t get it to work, and the file upload option consistently failed.
It was one disaster after another with this plugin.
