Hey @percivalconstantine,
I apologize for the trouble you saw with spam form submissions!
If you were using Google reCAPTCHA then please know that we’ve recently been seeing an increase in reports from users who use Google reCAPTCHA and how they’re receiving more SPAM. This unfortunately is an issue with Google and it’s possible there was a recent vulnerability exploited to allow bots to bypass this.
We’ve also noticed that most of the reports are from users who have the Invisible reCaptcha setup. In case this is what you are using at the moment, you might want to consider switching to the Checkbox reCaptcha. We have a comprehensive guide on how to get that set up here.
As a safety measure, we also recommend increasing the security level of the reCAPTCHA integration on your site. You can do this by going to your reCAPTCHA account. Then in the settings of your current integration, you can make adjustments to the Security Preference slider.
In case it helps, I would also like to mention that we have other anti-spam protection features in WPForms:
1. We have a built-in anti-spam protection feature in the form builder. This does not require any additional setup and should be enabled by default in the form builder > Settings > General. When enabled in the form, it works in the background to protect your forms against spam. For more details about the anti-spam protection feature, please see our tutorial here.
2. hCaptcha: This works much like Google’s v2 Checkbox reCAPTCHA. Within your forms, hCaptcha will display a checkbox asking users to prove they’re human. We have a detailed guide for setting up hCaptcha here.
3. Block or allow specific email addresses: Using our Allowlist/Denylist feature, you can restrict or allow specific email addresses that can be used to submit your forms. We have a detailed tutorial for setting this up here.
I apologize again for the trouble here! Please feel welcome to reach out for any further help on our support forum.
Thanks!
