I am receiving email repeatedly in the format WordPress@(my domain name). We have not created that email address. Yet it comes to me.

Every message is “Password changed for user: x…..”. That is all. No explanation. After x appears to be a password. I do not believe WordPress is emailing me a password, after abitrareily changing mine. Should I be concerned? Can I safely declare this junk mail, or will that interfere with legitamate emails to my domain name?

A WordPress installation sends this email as soon as the password has been successfully changed by a user of the project. It is therefore not spam, but correct – unless the sender is not your WordPress. You should be able to recognise this from the sender’s domain or by analysing the email header.

If you want to switch off such emails, you can proceed as described here (answer #2): https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/206353/disable-email-notification-after-change-of-password

Just to add, your password can be reset only by those who can read your email.

If your email account has not been compromised, you can ignore the email.
