• Hi,

After moving to wordpress from Drupal in february 2021, we have noticed that there are high number of spammy comments being posted on third party websites linking to our website pages.

I suspect this has something to do with wordpress setup as this has never happened previously.

We are having 10-20 spammy comments on third party blogs targeting our website.

Has anyone experienced such issues in past? We’re also thinking to see if we need to install any security sotftware on our website?

Any help on this matter is much appreciated.

    regards

  • Hello @satwikchavda

Spam issues on the comments of the posts can be considered a common issue.

But there are some steps and configurations you can perform to decrease the spam.

Please, check the following external article: https://themeisle.com/blog/stop-comment-spam-on-wordpress/

    Hope it helps.

Hi Yasu88, thanks for your reply. These spammy comments seems automated and they aren’t hosted on our blog but on third party blogs.

I suspect this has something to do with wordpress as we have only started to see these blog comments linking our pages on third party websites.

I have disabled pingbacks etc just incase.

Can you please see if there is anything we can do to stop this comments spam?

    thanks
