spam comments not being captured

  • Since installing 4.1 spam comments are not being captured with the result I am being mailbombed with comments needing moderation. I can’t find settings in the dashboard to reset the spam filter or to turn off comments.

  • To turn off comments, you can go to WordPress dashboard < Settings < Discussion. In the “Default article settings”, you can find an option of “Allow people to post comments on new articles”. Simply uncheck that box.

    To filter spam comments, you can use the Akismet plugin.
