    Hi,

First of all thanks for the free version of this plugin. Your kind of developers are what make the WordPress community great.

I have a question regarding the plugin. I’ve been using Blackhole for Bad Bots for about a month now and tens of spam messages still end up in my comments spam folder every day.

My site uses Akismet, Recaptcha and Blackhole for Bad Bots to block spam.

I have these lines in my robots.txt file:
    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /blackhole/

I checked that i have the blackhole link in my source code and the link works and I get banned after clicking it.

So far Blackhole has blocked 5 bots. But I still get tens of spams a day.
I thought the purpose of Blackhole for Bad Bots was to prevent bot access BEFORE they get to send the spam.

I guess Blackhole is working like it should but is there a way to prevent the bots from sending the spam before it ends up in my spam folder?

Glad to help. Yes it sounds like you have everything configured correctly, and that Blackhole is working properly. Basically, Blackhole for Bad Bots blocks bad bots in general. Some of the bad bots may be comment spammers, others may not. That is why it is a good idea to use a comment-spam plugin alongside Blackhole if your site is using the WP comment system.
