    Hi @skahle,

    Sorry to hear that!

It is on our radar to improve the anti-spam features in WPForms. In the meantime, you can consider increasing security level of the reCAPTCHA integration on your site by going to your reCAPTCHA account: https://www.google.com/recaptcha.

Then in the settings of your current integration, you can go to Security Preference to make adjustments.?

    Hope this helps!

I would welcome an improvement to anti-spam features as soon as possible. For me, there has been a noticeable increase in the past few months of the amount of spam emails I have received via the contact page which uses WP Forms Lite. I have my reCaptcha setting on the highest.

    Hi @rodeboy,

Thanks for the feedback! Our team is looking into improving spam protection in WPForms, and while we don’t have a specific ETA for now, this is definitely in the works.

In the meantime, if you’d like to consider alternatives to reCAPTCHA, we have a Custom Captcha addon. This is available with any paid licenses. Also, the following third-party plugins work out of the box to protect your forms against spam:

    WordPress Zero Spam

Spam protection, AntiSpam, FireWall by CleanTalk.

Just to note that we’ll not be able to provide support for third-party plugins.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks Ethan. I fully accept that you cannot support third party plugins. I just need one that will prevent spam from the form as I use Akismet for spam protection on comments and that works fine.

Do you have any experience to say that one or the other of the plugins you mention work best with WP Forms Lite? As I say, it is just for the forms I need it. Should I keep the reCaptcha in place as well as the additional spam protection plugin?

Thanks, and I look forward to the WP Forms Lite update which provides greater spam protection as everything else about the plugin is great.

    Hi @rodeboy,

Both ‘WordPress Zero Spam’ and ‘Spam protection, AntiSpam, FireWall by CleanTalk’ should work well with WPForms Lite, and with reCAPTCHA enabled if you’d like to.

The difference between the two plugins would be that ‘WordPress Zero Spam’ is simple to set up, and works right out of the box while ‘Spam protection, AntiSpam, FireWall by CleanTalk’ requires registration, and offers more settings for customization.

Also, the ‘Spam protection, AntiSpam, FireWall by CleanTalk’ is a premium plugin with yearly subscription plans, though it offers a 7 days free trial. Please see their site page for more details.

    Hope this helps!

I have installed WordPress Zero Spam on my sites and that seems to have done the job. However I would still prefer not to have to use it and that spam protection in WPForms was better!
