• We use contact form 7 on multiple websites. Each form includes captcha. Yet tons of spam and junk emails are being submitted. What can we do?

  • Are you sure that these emails are being submitted through the website contact form, and not directly to your email address? Check to see if the “Sent from the contact form at …..” info is at the base of the mail. If they are getting past the captcha then try Contact Form 7 Honeypot, which is very effective and offers a better user experience as the field is hidden from humans.

    Yes, the emails are definitely being submitted through the form. I have added and activated the Contact Form 7 Honeypot plugin and the issue continues. Any other suggestions?

    Try changing the name of the honeypot form-tag to something like [honeypot email-16] or [honeypot your-name-6]. I use something like that and it works perfectly. If you’re still having problems after that then you can start reviewing the emails that you are getting and adding words or phrases of spammy text to Settings >> Discussion >> Comment Blacklist in the WordPress Dashboard. I have lines like:

    Vuitton
    Hioffer
    Moncler
    UGG!
    Pandora
    Statesboro
