Hello – I’m using the Delicate theme and every post or page I write, the wording/spacing gets crammed together. Also, I have it formatted as Georgia font and it shows up as Arial. Another problem is that any bullets or extra formatting I use do not show up. Please help. Thank you.

Sounds like you probably have mark-up and/or CSS errors — start by validating your pages:

I’m super new to WordPress so I’m not sure I’d even know where to start with validating and going through the CSS information.

Have you read the above linked page? Validating is part of having a website — there is tons of helpful information to help you learn how to do so. No way around it.

Posting a link to your site would also be helpful — as is, no one can possibly be very helpful.

Yes, I appreciate you posting it. I’m reading through it now and it’s incredibly overwhelming. I do not know any of the lingo so it’s going to be a difficult read.

I only have one page published. I don’t want to publish anything else until I figure out what the problem is. The formatting looks terrible.

Yep, you have MAJOR problems…multiple doctype, head, body and html tags. How did you create that page? Copying code or even content from other sites may be copying bad code and/or creating errors.

I think I am going to have to hire someone to help. I apologize for not understanding, but I don’t even know what doctype, head, body and html tags are.

Our school recommends taking the information directly from them so there are no copyright issues with wording etc.

Thank you for trying to help.

I’m not talking about copyright — but about copying code — which then causes errors on the page. Yeah, hiring someone is probably a good idea. Still, I’d also really recommend learning some basic HTML and CSS — otherwise you will probably continue to have major problems. This is a good reference site:

There are lots of other really good resources out there on the web, including many YouTube videos.
