Space between the header and the slider

yes, i mean the space around the heading text.
but when i use:

.site-header {
margin-bottom: 2.618em;
}

there will be space between the headlines and the header, but also a white gape between the header and the black box.

like this:

i want the space just an the other pages, not on the front page.

Aah oke and if you try to add this one:

.home.page .site-header {
margin-bottom: 0px;
}
