I am not able to provide a link to the website because I am building it on my Mac desktop with Local.  I am working with WordPress 6.2 and the Twenty Twenty Three theme with minimal plugins and the latest version of Local.

I have a Row block containing a Navigation block with five links in it. I want the links to be evenly spaced across the available space. I can’t seem to make the Space Between Items justification work. I have tried setting both the Row and the Navigation together and separately and it never seems to adjust the space between the items or it does it does so only in the preview. I’m not sure how I got it to work in the preview once, but I have never been able to make it work in the actual site. I can make it right, left or center justify. How do I make the Space Between Items setting work?

Hi @richardpatterson the space between your menu items isn’t the same or you want to spread out your menu items?

Are you able to take a screenshot of what you are seeing and also explain what you would prefer to have, you can add the screenshot to https://snipboard.io/ the site will provide you with a link which you can share here.

Maybe I don’t understand what Space Between Items is supposed to do. I assumed it would spread the items out across the available width and make the space between each one the same (what I would call full justification).

Actually I just discovered that it works as I expected on a Row but not on a Navigation block. I am going around in circles trying to format a set of links where I can control the color and position of the text for the links.

Perhaps you can tell me if it is possible to have more than one navigation block with different menus in a website. I want each post to have a bar or row below the post title with links to several related posts. I am not comfortable enough with CSS to try to automate this, so I tried using both a reusable block (which I would convert to a normal block on each page) and a pattern. Neither approach seemed to work with a Navigation block. When I made a change on one page, the same change was made on the others even thought I thought I was supposed to be able to change it on each page differently. If I make a row with paragraphs where each bit of text is a link, I find that I cannot control the color of the link since it is set globally and there is no way to override it. Is this making any sense?

Hi @richardpatterson it sounds like you managed to space out the menu items the way you prefer, is that the case?
Concerning changing the color for links I would suggest changing the naviagtions block’s guide it might help:

If there is anything missing feel free to advise.

It should be possible, on each post you can add the navigation block and create a new menu as shown in the short video below.

You should also be able to switch between menus on with the same option.

Thanks. I’ll take a look at all these things. I’m not sure why I find WordPress so confusing.

Actually part of the reason I find it confusing is that the documentation shows things that I do not see when I edit my site. The article about Navigation blocks shows icons below the selected navigation block that I do not see and has options in the setting side bar that are different from what I see. I assume it is because the documentation was written for WordPress 5.9 and I am using WordPress 6.2.

I was able to create a second menu and get the links spaced the way I wanted. I can also live with the color scheme of the menu. So thank you very much for you help.

My only remaining question is whether there is a way to give the menus names other than Navigation-1, Navigation-2. I didn’t seem to be able to edit the names in the settings panel.

Hi @richardpatterson you can rename the menu on the block settings under Advanced as shown below.

Perfect! Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions so thoroughly.
