    When the footnote hint in the text is followed by a “.” or “,”, then the footnote hint is follwed by a ” “. When literals are follwing, that doesn’t appear.

    Example:

    “My text1. More text.” is shown as “My text1 . More text.”;
    “My text1 says nothing.” is shown as “My text1 says nothing.”

    I’ve checked in the editor, there it is correct with “My text>>This is my first footnote<<. More text.”

    Thanks!

    I’ve tried to reproduce the bug, but it displays correctly for me. May you please post a link to a page you are having this issue with, and your theme’s name so I’ll try to set up my sandbox accordingly.

    Best regards.

    The theme is a child theme based on Twenty Fifteen by the WordPress team.

    Thanks!

    @nikelaos,

    Thank you a lot for setting this up and for your reporting as a whole! The error was a trailing space after the last close tag in the tooltip.html template.

    Please excuse me of this flaw. I’m sorry for the pain and hassle.

    That space is removed in the current v2.0.6 that I scrambled to release as an urgency when checking your working model, its page source and the older versions of the plugin. The disturbing space was not in footnotes until I edited templates to adjust hard-coded settings and more, located in wp-content/plugins/footnotes/templates/public/.

    Thanks again.

    Best regards,
    @pewgeuges
