• In an attempt to fix a mysterious problem with article headers, we deactivated and removed Gutenberg plugin. This fixed that problem. However, at some point since Friday June 30, we can no longer embed Soundcloud links. WP persistently says “that content cannot be embedded” and we are forced to host our audio off our own disk space, which is not something we can keep up for long ??

Does anyone know why WP would throw this “content cannot be embedded” error message all of a sudden, and whether getting rid of Gutenberg plugin could possibly have caused this problem? We have tried reinstating Gutenberg and it doesn’t change anything: still can’t embed Soundcloud links.

It used to be that we could just paste the Soundcloud URL into the editor and the image/player block would automatically pop up.

Now, no matter how we attempt to embed the Soundcloud content — by pasting the URL in to the editor, or by selecting the Soundcloud Embed block and pasting the URL into the popup — we get the same error message about “content cannot be embedded.”

    Hair tearing time!

I have the same issue, on a website with 600 x soundcloud clips that vanished overnight. I can get the embed to work but nothing using links. But its not practical to re-embed that number of clips.

We had this start happening on one of out sites that uses SoundCloud embeds, too.

We CAN embed using the Custom HTML block and the embed code from SoundCloud, however the regular links & Embed block don’t seem to work.

They’re all back! I have made no changes but the clips have just popped up again. I assume therefore that maybe this was a soundcloud issue as nothing has been changed in the websites that I had issues with.

It appears to be working now on my end too!
