I have the following question: My website server is quite slow. I have a number of audio files that I offer as a free download on my website. My question is, is it preferable (especially in matters of site loading speed etc.) to serve audio files from my website server, or will it be better to upload these files to Soundcloud and embed them in the website? Or will it not matter much? Thank you.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

It matters. How much is difficult to say. Important factors are how busy your site is and how big the downloads are. On shared hosting, also how busy all the other sites are. If nothing else, taking a long time to download is not good UX, but if no one else is trying to use the server at the same time, it wouldn’t affect anyone else.

Without knowing the specifics, I’d say hosting the download files elsewhere would be beneficial. Any cloud based storage which allows public access could work, it doesn’t need to be an audio specific service like Soundcloud. But such a service does offer other benefits that you might like.
