• Hi,

I am very new to this. I spent a lot of time building a website with the Elfie theme, and now suddenly everything is gone. When I try to visit my site, all that loads is text. All of the structure/images/formatting is gone. No blocks, no nothing. Just text. What happened and how do I restore all of my work?

When I go into Gutenberg to edit individual pages, they look semi-correct in the editor. But then on the published page it is all a jumble. When I go to the theme customizer, it again looks like a complete jumble.

I tried contacting GoDaddy support but they said it was not a server/hosting issue. I’m not sure how to proceed.

    SOS!
The website I am trying to restore is lydiaoreillyfloraldesign.com

    Thank you!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hiya @lydiafloral,

I had a quick look, and you are right there’s something odd there, and I do believe it may be hosting related.

A quick look shows me that assets that WordPress needs to properly display content is returning a HTTP status code of 502 (this is all server-y stuff, sorry!), which tells me there’s something going wrong with a server somewhere.

You should respond back and let them know that your site is failing to load assets, giving a HTTP 502 error, and the following are example files giving that message:

    • https://secureservercdn.net/50.62.198.97/c4x.3ac.myftpupload.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Who-I-Serve-600x162.png
    • https://secureservercdn.net/50.62.198.97/c4x.3ac.myftpupload.com/wp-content/plugins/coblocks/dist/js/vendors/slick.js?ver=2.2.1&time=1597334505

There were other files, but I grabbed a handful that you can provide as an example. This should spur them to take a more proper look at your site.

Thanks so much, Marius! I’ll show this to the GoDaddy folks and hopefully that will direct them to the problems. I am not a web developer so wasn’t even really sure what to tell them. Hopefully this will point them in the right direction and we can get the wonkiness cleared up.

Side note: if I do switch themes, the site looks marginally acceptable (everything rearranged and out of order, of course, but at least the basic content shows up). When I switch back to Elfie, it again becomes a completely unreadable mess. Any idea why it’s doing that? Elfie was so beautiful when I first installed it, before all this happened. Is this part of the server issue, or something separate that I’m doing wrong on my end?

    Thanks!

    Hi there,

It seems everything is in order now? Most likely it looks like you had an issue with your CDN.

I think it’s all fixed! Thanks so much for your help. I was panicking for a bit. I am certainly learning a lot through all of this!
