SOS: Files in root folder not accessible

Hi friends. We are unable to access files in the root folder. For example the standard readme.html is also not accessible from the root folder.

Additional info:

1. We are using bitnami instance on AWS EC2.
2. The root folder is /opt/bitnami/wordpress
3. We deactivated the usual suspect plugins like WP-Rocket, WordFence. Still there is no respite.
4. The permissions for this folder are: 775. Owner: Bitnami [1000] Group: daemon [1]
5. The same works like a charm on our dev and test environments.
