Sorting Search Results

  • Hi Mikko,

    Not sure if you are able to help – I would like to have the search results default to “post date” with the newest products listed first.

    I have changed the settings>searching>default order>post date but it is not displaying in this order.Do you have a orderby option that I can add either to my search.php or functions.php (Very novice here, any help would be much appreciated.)

    Relevanssi supports orderby parameter, but if setting the order from Relevanssi settings doesn’t make any difference, then it’s possible that a) your search results are not actually powered by Relevanssi or b) something else is reordering the results after Relevanssi, in which case using an orderby parameter makes no difference.

    But you can try: just add &orderby=post_date&order=desc to the end of the search results page URL. Does that change the order?
