Sorting by DATE Editorial Metadata field not working

We are running continuously into a little problem (bug?) with edit-flow’s Editorial Metadata fields.

We have setup one field as DATE field (where we save the date when an article has been posted on social media), setup as “viewable” in post lists.

The date field itself works fine if it is filled in.

However, when we have not yet filled in any date into it (like when we just started posting a new post) the backend post list “ignores” the post.

When looking up our “All POSTS” – “Published” post list, we see a certain number of posts (items) showing. If we now SORT the list by clicking on the Editorial Metadata Date field, it shows much fewer posts (items).

Seems like its sorting some posts where the date field is empty, but others are missing.

If we manually go into one of the missing posts and fill in any date in the date field it starts to show up fine next time when the list is sorted by the editorial metadata field.

In other words, if we click on the list header “post status” we get a different number of posts listed, then if we click on the “date field metadata header”.

Would be great if this could be fixed.
