Formerly WordPress sorted search results in reverse publication order, which is logical and fine for me, with the most recent results first.
A choice between oldest or newest search results first would have been excellent.
But now WordPress sorts search restults firstly according to most recent headline results and secondly by most recent content results.
I am publishing a database with thousands of records.
When results of a content search are in the hundreds this complicated matters as users have to find the beginning of the most recent results of the content to find those most recent results.
They find them on the third page maybe, if they have not given up already.
This is a waste of time for everybody who is searching the data.
Most people are looking for the most recent content, which may or may not be reflected in the headline.
