Sort/Group book archive by series

  • I think this is probably a request for new functionality. What I’d like to see is the books archive page sorted/grouped by series.

    For genre authors who write in series format, this makes much more sense than the current jumble of titles.

    I’d also love to see the series taxonomy pages work the same way, as some of my “series” are actually containers for several sub-series.

    Ideally, the book archive and/or series page would look like this:

    Books by Author
    Description here

    Stand-alone titles (books that are not marked as being in any series, or are in this top-level series if this is a series page)
    Book Book Book Book

    Series 1
    Description here

    Book Book Book Book

    Series 2
    Description here
    Book Book Book Book

    Right now I am mucking around trying to write my own archive-books.php file to create this structure but I know the makers of this plugin could do a much, much better job.

    Anyone know of any easy way to do this right now? Or would this functionality help you, too?

  • I would love to see this too, snowbelly. To get this functionality I made my own Page with gallery images of book covers, and arranged them by Series.
