Sortable tables in templates

    I would like to convert an category archive template into a table based archive. I want the table to be sortable by each column.

    What are the options for doing that? Can you share some useful online resources/tutorials?

    Any quick ways of coverting an existing HTML table already in the archive template into a sortable table? I found sortable.js – is that the standard script to use?

    Example:
    List of books in a particular category with column headings (some custom fields):
    Title (permalink), Publisher, Date, Author
    Sort table by any of these columns.
