• Would there be a way to sort entries by the keys and values of custom field data?

As an example, if I were to add a “Music” key with values that would range from “Rock”, “Rap”, “Classical”, “Pop”, etc.

Would I be able to then sort and list entries that have custom field data with:
    “Music: Rock”, then
    “Music: Rap”, then
    “Music: Classical”, etc.?

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can offer.

    Doh, no help yet.

I’ll see if I can get another script to do something like this for me, but I’d really like to use WordPress for this new site I’m working on just because I’m currently using it for my blog and I’m more familiar with it.

So, one last try: Anyone have some ideas on how to get something like this to work? Thanks.

I could show how to enter the code for the custom menu manually into index.php if that will help. That’ll give you ultimate control over how the list works. But, it’s not as pretty to maintain.

I think for now I’ll try to see if another script can handle this with an already available plug-in (unless someone else can shed some light on how to get this to work with WordPress). I’d like to have it all done automatically– it’s just easier for the future.

    Thanks for your offer, though.

If you don’t need the category field to store something else, it would seem to be the perfect solution. You could have a category for each genre of music.

Yeah, I’d be using the category feature as well as the meta data from the custom fields. Thanks, though.
