The plugin is activated, but does not show on the admin menu.
The plugin displays on the plugin page, and when I click “Settings” on the plugin page, I get:

Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.

What I have tried so far:
    * I have deactivated all other plugins and set theme to vanilla WP 2017 themes.
    * If I create a brand new DB pointing to the same wp-content, it’s fine (but I can’t keep the install that way for several reasons)
    * When I inherited this site, the previous support person had bbpress installed, and removed, but the old roles were still present. In fact, my admin role also had Keymaster attached to it.
    * I removed all the bbpress roles, but still can’t access this plugin.
    * I resaved permalinks
    * I added to my wp-config, define(‘CODE_SNIPPETS_SAFE_MODE’, true); in case someone before me had this plugin activated, and this doesn’t change anything.
    * wp-snippets table has 0 rows

Any help is appreciated, thank you!

Shea, this is still an issue. I see you’ve been updating, can you comment on this or give me any ideas please? Thanks!

    Same issue.

I have two websites, almost identical setup.

    Both on WP-Engine running PHP-7.
    Both running WordPress 4.8.3.
    Both running WooCommerce’s Storefront theme.
Both running with an SSL, both with CDN, etc….

One of my websites works perfectly.

But the other one “activates” (according to WordPress), but the menu item never appears in the back-end.

If I go to plugins, then click the “Snippets” link on that plugin, it forwards to:
https://www.myurl.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=snippets (of course, with my URL).

On this almost-blank page, it says: “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.”

Hello everyone! My apologies for taking so long to get onto this.

Unfortunately, it’s a bit difficult to debug this without having access to a site where this error is occurring.

If any of you would be willing to grant me temporary access to an affected site, I would be more than happy to take a look at it.

Otherwise, uninstalling the plugin by deleting it in the Plugins menu and reinstalling it may resolve this issue (remember to back up your snippets first!). It sounds like this may be a permissions issue, and reinstalling the plugin should reapply these permissions.

I’ve just released version 2.9.6, which (hopefully) should include a fix for this issue. It would be great if you could all try it out and let me know if things are working.

Yes! I can see the menu option and settings page now. Thank you for your work on this, creating and maintaining.

But the options under dashboard like( home, updates) and under plugin like (add new plugin, installed plugin and editor) is not visible.

    Hi Naveen,

Does your problem relate to this plugin? It sounds like more of a general issue.

Regardless, it sounds like you have some issues with capabilities on your site. I’d look for solutions to reset those – a simple method of doing so is to reinstall WordPress.

    Hi Shea,
Thanks you so much for your reply.

its a site which is in production environment which contains woocommerce and plenty other plugins used. These needs to be live in this week.

i am worried whether if i reinstall the wordpress the existing website gets crashed.

Is there any safe to install wordpress instead effecting any existing files?

    Warm Regard’s,
    Naveen

This issue is not regarding the plugin, i was just exploring to solve the issues.
    hence i posted here

I probably wouldn’t reinstall WordPress in your situation; instead I’d look for a solution to reinstall the default WordPress roles and capabilities. It can be a bit of a messy process, though, especially if you have many plugins installed.

Also, I’d recommend creating a new thread to deal with new issues like this one, instead of posting in an unrelated thread. You’ll get more attention from people who are more knowledgeable about the topic, instead of the very limited visibility otherwise.
