• After having recently installed clearfy on my site (WordPress 5.4.1), i noticed after some days that i got info to update to wordpress 5.4.2. but the update link under dashboard was gone.

So i tried going directly to “update-core.php” but that could not be accessed.

==> Error: “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.”

Then i also noticed that the menu item updates and add plugins had disappeared. I can’t access “plugin-install.php”.
==> There i also get this error of not being allowed to access.

    – wordpress 5.4.1 installed
    – Clearfy version 1.6.6 installed
    – My account is an admin.
    – We are hosting the site on our own webserver
    – php 7.4.
    – The files have 644 permission.
    – In Db (mysql) i have admin capabilities for my user.

    I also tried as fix:
    – deativated all plugins & logged off & clear cache ==> no improvement.
    – Even login on other browser => no improvement.
    – Even renaming the clearfy folder in plugins is not a fix.

At the moment I am unable to add plugins or install plugins or install wordpress updates.

There must be some permissions settings that have been modified to not allow access to these wordpress admin pages

    Hello cbartsch,

I received a notification of your posting for support for the Clearfy plugin, although I have never used, posted or even ever heard of of this plugin before.

I was surprised at the wide range of actions claimed for this plugin, which may be attractive to anyone looking for quick fixes for many issues. However, unless you understand what the plugin is doing, it may produce problems.

If you are unable to delete plugins via the Dashboard, you need to use FTP to access the files on your site. Go to /wp-content/plugins/clearfy and delete the clearfy directory. This may solve the issues and allow you to use the Admin pages.

    Hello, @cbartsch

If the problem persists after deactivating the Clearfy plugin, then the problem is not in the Clearfy plugin. Do you have security plugins installed?
