Thanks in advance for your help.

I recently bought and installed Link Whisper on my blog. Tonight, I clicked on one of the options in its menu ‘reports’ and was prompted to log in. Then I logged in using my usual credentials and got the ‘Sorry you are not allowed to access that page’ error message on wp-admin (I can’t even access the login screen).

After some hunting online I found the wp_usermeta table, in which the user ID of the user I had been trying to log in with, was not present – although the other IDs were.

I ended up adding an admin user and logging in to the dashboard via a different browser and user account.

However, even though I have cleared cookies in Chrome, nothing I do will get rid of the ‘Sorry you are not allowed to access that page’ message in Chrome. I have also tried restarting my computer, but need to get the login screen back so that I can log in with my new user ID.

Could someone help me either to fix the wp_usermeta tables so that my old user ID works, or help me to clear this message so that I can log in as my new user account?

    Thanks so much!
    Sarah

    bought and installed Link Whisper

Since that is a commercial theme or plugin, we ask that you please go to their official support channel, so you can get support from the people who know it best.

Forum volunteers are also not given access to commercial products, so they would not know why it is not working properly. Other community members who may have faced your issue might be able to help you but your best bet is your product’s developer. Keep in mind we encourage you to use the official support venues, as it allows the developers to be aware of issues with their code and gives back to the community in a more robust way.

Regarding your broken tables, after plugin installation, it will be best to restore your site from backup made before that install.

    Thanks so much @fierevere

I actually got the login screen to show up by blocking all cookies in Chrome. Then I allowed them to actually log in.

Chrome often has this issue where it will not allow me to change my login ID, but that is another story and blocking cookies fixes it!

I will definitely follow up with Link Whisper to find out what in the heck happened to my tables.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Kindly,
    Sarah
