I re-installed WordPress Popular Posts because I noticed the data is not increasing after plugin update. There is no new view count on Stats window and wpp database tables are not updating, too. On my wpp sidebar widget, I see “Sorry. No data so far”.

New DB tables are created after re-installation. I can confirm that new logs (when they come) would be fresh set of data.

I waited for few hours and I saw data started to pour very slowly. So, I thought the problem is fixed and just need to wait a little longer.

However, I’m viewing live traffic but view count is not changing except when I browse my website using an admin account, that’s the only time I see wpp data coming in.

WPP settings are default but Time Range is set to Last 24 hours and Log Limit is set to Keep data for 180 days. I attempted to revert latter to default but change isn’t accepted.

The sidebar widget on the page I submitted is only a test widget.

Would you suggest solution to this? Thanks.

    Hey @bigacelloy!

I’m not near a computer right now. If the plugin is logging your own visits, please go to Settings > WordPress Popular Posts > Tools and check that Log views from is set to Everyone. If it is, then please:

    1. Go to Settings > WordPress Popular Posts and add &tab=debug to the URL in the address bar of your browser.
    2. Share here the info displayed on the Debug screen.

    Hi Hector,

Sorry for the delay. I went out for the day.

Yes, the Log views is set to Everyone.

Upon further review of my configuration, I found out I have a function code that interferes with WordPress Popular Posts functionality. I removed it temporarily to confirm my suspicion. The code is relevant to prevent non-editor’s write access in the backend.

After removing the said function code, I am getting new traffic as expected. However, I find it weird because I believe the code was there for as long as I remember and I don’t recall having a problem with WPP before the update.

Anyway, please consider the issue resolved. I will reflect on my end and figure out an alternative way to harden database access by other users.

    Thank you!
