sophisticated filter function

Hey,
does someone have any ideas which solutions WordPress offers for creating a little data base of projects as this website has one?

– https://www.steg.de/projekte/
– you can choose the group of projects that you are interested in and then the search results adjust automatically

I do NOT want to create a post for each project because the info of my items will be very little and so I don’t need the project boxes to refer to an extra site… Any hints would be awesome.
