Sometimes Easy Watermark doesn’t seem to work

  • Hi. We are running a portal for a group of photographers. Most of them producing images with aspect ratio 3:2, at least one, myself is producing images with aspect ratio 4:3. In my case I encounter strange behaviour that after some weeks applying a visible water mark is not working anymore.

    Does this make any sense to you, that different apect ratio is effecting watermarking?

    The aspect ratio shouldn’t be a problem unless the watermark position is not “outside” the image area.

    But could you please clarify your case? Did I understand correctly that images get watermarked and after some time the watermark disappears?

    No. Unregularly I and we post different sets of images, always new sets. Let’s say 5-6 times, always fully watermarked. Then out of the blue watermark stops for new images. I was under the impression that aspect ratio could a effect this because a friend of mine did some posting later and it worked again. But now another friend did a new posting and it didn’t work.
    Can’t say when it happens and when not.

    Got it. Do you use any image optimization plugin or CDN (like Jetpack)?

    No jetpack, no cdn. But we are using Justified Image Grid. There is a connection to a built in tool timthumb.

    Hi. I found the reason or shall I say I could bypass the issue? I changed slightly the resolution for the images tp be displayed in the image grid to what WP is assuming as large. For now everything seems to work.

    Yes, the timthumb and cropping might be the issue here! I’m glad you’ve found the reason.
