    Great plugin.

    I did run into a large issue and it happens often (and not suddenly). I often receive:

    Something is wrong. Response takes too long or there is JS error. Press Ctrl+Shift+J or Cmd+Shift+J on a Mac to see error in console or ask for….

    One time the feed in the post will work, i’ll browse the site and go back and then they will show that error above. It looks like it just works when it wants to, randomly.

    A prime example shown here:
    https://pasteboard.co/H3cz0yA.jpg

    Example url from above: https://tinyurl.com/y92fr6ko
    another example: https://tinyurl.com/ycl5b6rl

    Yes, I have the latest version plugin and WordPress.

    I have over 200+ IG feeds and if they all result in this then it’s a huge issue.

    (Please don’t post any urls)

    Thanks in advance,
    K

    Also a future feature request. When account is private, when trying to add then notify that they are private and will not work (I follow the users I add so im unsure if they are private unless i unfollow them).

    Hi @klsbo!

    Thanks for noting this issue.
    We changed how the errors are visible in the frontend (1.2.12), but added a bug.

    The error message "Something is wrong. Response takes too long or there is JS error. ..."
    should be visible only when there are JS errors or connection errors (if no response from API withing 20 sec). However now there is a new bug: when one of the users in feed is private, this general error message is displayed and the whole feed is not visible. We will fix this ASAP. We will add admin-visible message only, that feed contains some private user’s data. But this message will not stop other user’s media from loading. Thank you very much for discovering this bug.

    As for your second request about adding a private user, we will add warning when trying to add private user to feed in one of the future versions.

    If there is a case when the feed in a page sometimes throws this error and sometimes not, this may be because of two reasons.
    1. slow connection
    2. user feed changed from public to private or vice versa

    Please check which of these cases you have.

    Hi there,
    I′m a bit confused now. We also have this message: Something went wrong! We have the latest Update from 6 days ago – version 1.2.13.
    But we don′t have a private account, it is public (#pikebrotherscompany).

    1) I tried to get a new token from instagram via plugin – works.
    2) I tried to ‘View your feed’in plugin – I get the message: This is a private page. To make it public, edit it and change the visibility.

    But we have a business account, which is set to public. So is there anything I can do else? Is it possible that the account contains private settings within, e.g. for separate images?

    Do you have any idea?
    Thanks for help!

    hi @annettedom,

    I guess confusion comes from the private page, not the private feed in it. Can you view the feed when logged in ?
    If so, the feed is ok. Just we make the page with the feed private so that first admin can test it, without being displayed in menu.

    Please make the page public and the page with the feed in it will be visible to everyone.

    Hi @progmastery,
    thanks for your help. I checked all pages in wordpress and they are visibility-state=public.
    And yes, I see the instagram feed, when I′m logged in.
    Thats why it is so strange. I has been working before. We discovered the error yesterday. We did not change anything on our Instagram nor on our webpage. The only difference is the update from plugin 6 days ago.

    @annettedom, can you please give the link so that we can see what is wrong there?

    Hi @progmastery,
    here are the links:
    https://www.pikebrothers.com/ – here the plugin is used in the footer
    https://www.instagram.com/pikebrotherscompany/ – this is the instagram feed
    Thanks!

    @annettedom,

    there is a conflict with some caching/minify plugin, most probably bwp-minify. That plugin merges and minifies JS files of other plugins, but it missed instagram’s JS files.

    there should be wdi_instagram.js, wdi_frontend.js and wdi_responsive.js files included in the frontend. Please deactivate bwp-minify to see if instagram feed displayed. If so, you need to configure minify plugin correctly, so that it does not remove instagram’s scripts.

    @progmastery,
    I deactivated ‘Better WordPress Minify’ and ‘Autooptimize’, delete the cache. Started again WordPress and tried again. Still error message when ‘View your feed’ with instagram plugin.

    Error: This is a private page. To make it public, edit it and change the visibility.
    Feed with such ID does not exist

    The plugin is still deactivated. Can you see, if there is still the conflict?

    @annettedom
    Feed in the footer of the homepage is displayed normally. The conflict fixed.

    As for the second feed, please change the privacy of WP page to public and select already existing feed instead of the deleted one. The error message is clear.

    @tigran, thanks for the response.

    Neither of the two reasons you provided for the error are the case. All profiles are public and the connection is fine (as you can see on your end by browsing the original links sent). I have version 1.2.13. My profile which is using the API is also public. It’s an on and off issue; API related?

    Any other solutions here?

    Thanks.

    hi @klsbo,

    thats’s really strange. Perhaps we can wait until we reproduce this error again to find out the exact reason.

    By the way, did you deactivate any other plugin or change any config? Maybe there was a conflict but it is not there anymore.

    hi @progmastery,
    thanks for fixing the issue.

    The second feed – I did set it to public and no matter if I have it to public or private: – the instagram feed is shown in footer on both settings

    – I get the message on top for both settings: ‘This is a private page. To make it public, edit it and change the visibility.Feed with such ID does not exist.’
    (https://www.pikebrothers.com/my-instagram-feed/)

    So ‘View your feed’ in the plugin does still not work – strange, isn′t it? So what did you do to fix the issue? So we know, what to do next time.
    Thanks!

    hi @annettedom,

    it seems you have deleted your first feed. Please edit that page and change the id of feed in shortcode.

    When you deactivated bwp-minify and autooptimize, it fixed footer feed. Please use this plugins with correct configuration so that they do not break the widget.
