Something is creating pages about gambling, hotels, weight loss (Virus?)

    Hi, everyone!

    I’m looking for an answer to something happening in one of my websites.

    Suddenly, something is creating pages about hotels, weight loss, writing courses, gambling, etc. Sometimes this pages doesn’t appear in the pages section within the WordPress Admin. But I can see them on the sitemap.

    Yesterday, I saw that Google is starting to index those pages, so I’m worried about this situation. I already sent a request to Google to remove those URLs, and they are already removed them, but new pages keep appearing.

    I have installed sucuri plugin but it doesn’t detect any viruses.

    I tried to research on this situation, but found nothing.

    Can anyone point me in the right direction to keep digging?

    Remain calm and carefully follow this guide. When you’re done, you may want to implement some (if not all) of the recommended security measures.

    It looks that some plugins were creating this issue.

    Don’t remember the names of all of them but one was named “SEO adviser”, which is obviously some kind o hack/malware plugin.

    The other plugins appeared down the plugins section on the dashboard but none of them had a description in the description field. Obviously, they looked suspicious.

    After I removed them, I had to edit the wp-config.php file because the site wasn’t loading. It looks like the plugins added a require_once() declaration that needed the files of one of those plugins.

    So, after I removed the require_once() declaration from wp-config.php, everything went back to normal and the automated creation of spam pages is not working anymore.

    Hope this can help anyone in the future.
